Here we are on the 69th day after the Deep Water Horizon explosion, and there is no end in sight to the deluge of oil, methane, and dispersant. We do not know the full extent of the ecological impact, though I think it is fair to say that life as we have known it is over.
I am not a harbinger of doom and gloom, rather a messenger of a realistic perspective on how our civilization is a product of our collective blindness. Wake up, wake up!! We are on a collision course with ourselves, our own daimonic – that part of us that we have split off and held at bay with strata of shame and denial. The repressive forces are buckling, there are cracks in our facade of control, and our shadowy demons are bubbling to the surface. Wake up, wake up!!
So, how do we make sense of all that is happening right now? How can we possibly come to terms with scenarios that are beyond our imagination?
I see that each of us is only responsible for our part in this affair. Each of us cannot carry the collective burden of cleaning up this mess. We can only transform ourselves on a personal level. We can learn to feel our way through the darkness, the ignorance, the lack of accountability. We can reflect on where our carried shame lies, where the violence festers within ourselves, where are our own deep wounds are bleeding without bounds.
I have no Absolute Prescription for resolving this conflict, though I’ll share ideas and intentions that are inspiring and motivating for me:
1. We are all interconnected – humans, animals, plants, sea life, rocks, the water. We all exist on this planet, and we all have worth. What impacts one, impacts all.
2. We are accountable for the impact of our behavior. We carry the responsibility for our actions and how these actions impact ourselves, other people, and all life.
3. We are Feeling Beings. Collectively, there is a lack of emotional awareness, and what gets repressed gets expressed in unconscious and potentially destructive ways. We each need to be able to identify are feelings – joy, anger, sadness, loneliness, pain, fear, shame – since these feelings link us directly to our needs and desires. Our feelings are the keys to understanding who we are.
4. As Feeling Beings, we need to grieve individually and collectively. The Hopi have prophesied the end of the Fourth World and the beginning of the Fifth. Life as we know it is ending. We are losing the world view that we have held for milennia. There is a great loss… and a new beginning on the horizon. To bridge the gap between old and new, we need to grieve, we need to unleash our tears and share our pain. We need to come together and start caring about ourselves and each other.
5. We are experiencing quantum shifts in consciousness. Dr. Carl J. Calleman’s work on the Mayan Calendar and his new theory of quantum biological evolution reveal that we are on track for the evolution of consciousness. We are in the final stages of the Galactic Underworld and will soon enter the 9th and final Underworld, the Universal Underworld. We now have access to energies and ideas that will help us heal the split within ourselves if we choose to embrace these energies and do the inner work necessary. This is the time to awaken our innate intuitive abilities, to express our feelings, to become aware of the polarity in which we dwell. This is the foundation from which we will need to spring into the new world paradigm of unity, sovereignty, respect and dynamic harmony with all life. There are no shortcuts, and if we procrastinate along the way, we will be forced by default into the unavoidable confrontation with the Self.
6. We need to lose hope for what has been and instill hope for what is emerging. Our oil-based civilization is proving itself to be unsustainable and destructive. We need to hold a new vision for clean, renewable energy, for sustainable communities, for individual autonomy within supportive Earth-based communities. We need to take an earnest look at our intentions and flush out the shame, the hatred, the rage that burn holes in our integrity and leave us lifeless. Let us lose hope so that we can gain it!
7. Be prepared. Major changes are abundant, and we need to prepare ourselves for the coming months and years. We each need to open to our instincts and intuitions and follow what inspires us. Act from the Heart, as the Heart, not the brain, knows the truth of the matter. Strive for balance – activity and rest, planning and action, time alone and time shared, logic and intuition. We need all of our faculties to ensure our survival.
8. Learn to be trustworthy and to trust yourself. Many look outside of the Self for answers, for validation, for direction. As the world enters more chaos, there will not be others around to prop us up. We need to stand on our own two feet. We need to learn self-care, self-responsibility, self-love. As we move toward a new world, we must name our worth, we must name our divinity… for ourselves!
These truly are exciting times, ripe with possibilities and challenges. As we move forward, let us hold the light of our vision while remaining firmly planted on the Earth. Wishful thinking and fantastical affirmations are not valid unless we ground them in right action.
We each need to do our part. Society is not accountable. Corporations cannot be accountable. Only people can be accountable. So let’s hold ourselves accountable, wrestle with our own demons, and transform ourselves into the Ones We’ve Been Waiting For!

WOW Jeremy that was great reading! Gave me so much food for thought to take with me to ponder over through the day. Do you have a facebook page for Earth Spirit Medicine? I didnt find one. If not you should get one and post information like this page and many others. You would obtain so many followers and your message would spread like wildfire.
